1. What is Dot TK?

Dot TK is the official registry for the .TK domain extension

2. Why should I want one of these domains?

3. Does a .TK domain require company paperwork to be submitted?

No. Unlike registering other domain names a Dot TK domain does not require company paperwork.

4. Does Dot TK have a WHOIS database?

Yes. The WHOIS information is available for all domain names.

5. How much privacy can I expect from Dot TK?

You can expect your privacy to be guarded with respect. Full details are available in our Dot TK Privacy Policy.

6. What forms of payment can I use?

Currently you can pay with any type of credit card, by PayPal and by bank wire/payment.

7. What is a CVC code?

The CVC code is the three digit code on the signature box on the backside of the credit card. It's printed on all VISA and MasterCard branded credit cards. The security code on American Express credit cards is the four digit code on the front of the card.

8. Why is my credit card being denied or rejected during the registration process?

For information about why your credit card was declined or rejected, please contact your bank or credit card vendor. In the meantime, we recommend trying to register your domain name using a different card. If you continue to experience problems please get in contact with us at

9. How quick is the registration process?

Very quick! You can have your domain up and running in two minutes.

10. How long is the initial registration term for .TK domains?

You can register from a 2-year period up to a 9-year period. The option for a longer period than the standard 2-year period (starting from a three-year period up to a nine-year period) is offered in the registration process.

11. Do I have to pay the full two (2) year registration fee?

All registrations, with a minimum of two years are paid for at once. The total amount (yearly fee * amount of years) will appear during the registration process. This allows us to offer the great prices you get!

12. What happens after the second year?

You have the right to renew the Dot TK domain name for periods of 2 to 9 years at a time. You will receive an e-mail 60 days before the end of your registration period of your paid domain. If you pay by credit card, you can also opt to renew your domain name automatically. This is handy when you want to make sure someone else is not buying it once your domain has expired!

13. Will I receive a receipt or an invoice?

Yes. At the completion of the registration process you will receive a confirmation e-mail. This document serves as your receipt and will include the form of payment you have used, the amount and the transaction date.

14. How can I find out the status of my account?

You can always check into My Dot TK using your e-mail address and your password. You can view the number of domains you have registered, along with your personal information.

15. What is a special domain?

This is a domain, which is of greater commercial value than a standard domain. The criteria for a domain to be considered a SPECIAL DOMAIN, is a small number of characters (1, 2, or 3 characters, such as "A.TK", "RS.TK", or "ABC.TK"). Or it may fall into a range of words or terms that have been identified as having greater value. For this reason, the annual registration fee is greater than for a typical domain.

16. Can I cancel a registration?

Yes it is always possible to cancel a registration, however we have a "no refunds" policy on our domain registrations. Once you have registered your domain name you are legally bound to the Terms and Conditions of registration.

17. How do I activate my domain name?

Your domain name is activated with the last step of the registration process. This last step is a request for your credit card details or your PayPal transaction. If you pay by bank the last step is a request to return the confirmation email within 72 hours. After confirmation of this email you will receive the bank wire instructions.

If you pay by credit card or PayPal, the domain gets activated immediately after payment. Only domain names that are paid by bank wire are suspended until the payment is received.

18. What happens if the activation link does not work?

That means that your payment by bank registration process has not been finalized and your domain name is not registered. Please try the same link again a little later and if it still doesn't work, please contact us at .

19. How can I change my password?

You can always check into the My Dot TK section using your e-mail address and your password. You can view the number of free and paid domains you have registered, along with your personal information and change your profile, including your password.

20. What if I forget my password?

If you forget your password you can simple enter the My Dot TK section at the top of the Dot TK homepage. Please select the "I have forgotten my password" button and fill in your e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail with your password.

IMPORTANT: ACCOUNT RESETS. If you tried to log in to your account more than 30 times with the wrong password, you will need to have your password reset before you can log in. Please contact us at if this happens.

21. I have problems logging in to My Dot TK

If you are continuously asked to log in you need to enable cookies in your browser. To enable cookies in your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, go to Tools, then Internet Options, and select Enable Cookies.

22. I paid but it did not update expiry date

It might be that there has been an error during your transaction and therefore did not update the expire date. Please contact us at and we will be happy to help you.

23. How do I report abuse?

If you want to report abuse of a Dot TK domain name, please send a detailed email with your complaint to In most cases Dot TK responds to abuse complaints within one business day.

24. How do I report spam?

If you want to report SPAM relating to a Dot TK domain name, please send a detailed email with your complaint to . In most cases Dot TK responds to SPAM complaints within one business day.

25. Explicit Server Error occurs during registration process

When there is a "Server Error", it is an indication that the process was not completed as expected. Any number of things may have occurred, including fields being submitted with improper data, using unacceptable "characters" in words, submissions using outdated or incompatible browsers, etc. Sometimes the Internet just has a little "hiccup" and a Server Error occurs. It is very difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.

We suggest that you try to register your domain again within a few hours.

As an alternative it's a good option to try to register the domain name on a different computer system on a different location. Sometimes a web browser or firewall might interact differently with the service of Dot TK and using another computer on another location might help you in registering the domain name

26. How do I setup my domain?

All Dot TK domains can either setup for web-address (URL) forwarding or to be used with a Domain Name Server (DNS). Using URL forwarding all hits to your Dot TK domain will be forwarded to another existing web address.

If you use a DNS Server or the Dot TK DNS Service you are also able to use other hostnames (ftp.yourdomain.tk, mail.yourdomain.tk) and other services.

27. Dot TK DNS Service: for whom?

If you want to use DNS, you have two choices:

  1. You can opt to use the Dot TK DNS Service, where within My Dot TK you can setup your A and MX records.
  2. You can use an external DNS. Please consult your Internet or Hosting Provider for these options.

PLEASE NOTE: Be careful with changing the DNS settings for your domain. Wrong settings will directly result in unavailability of your domain name on the Internet. If you do change the DNS settings, it will take up to 30 minutes to have your settings being resolved across the world.

28. Am I allowed to change the URL that I submitted?

Yes, you can always check into My Dot TK using your e-mail address and your password. You can view the number of domains you have registered, along with your personal information and change the URL you want.

29. What if I made a mistake when I typed my original URL submission?

You can always check into My Dot TK by using your e-mail address and password. Feel free to change the URL you have submitted. All changes will take effect within 30 minutes.

30. Can my domain be de-activated?

If you do not respect our Terms and Conditions and you use your Dot TK website for any unlawful purposes, including but not limited to child pornography, child entrapment or abuse, advocacy of hatred, bigotry or violence towards persons or groups on the basis of their religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or other immutable characteristics, theft of email service, or as a source of unsolicited bulk email or as an address to use for replying to unsolicited bulk email, or in violation of our policies with respect to spamming or otherwise abusing free search engine services, we have the right to de-activate your domain.

31. I already have a .COM.TR What should I do?

You can either wait until it expires and then switch to the more convenient .TK or you can register your .TK domain NOW and use them both for the same URL until the .COM.TR expires. This guarantees that you will have a smooth transition period and also that you do not need to worry about someone else registering the .TK domain you want.
